June 23, 2005 — United Rentals, Greenwich, Conn., celebrated the grand opening today of its newest contractor supplies distribution center located at 15323 Northeast Airport Way in Portland, Ore. The 43,500-square-feet facility is the sixth of nine regional warehouses planned throughout the United States and Canada.
Accepting orders through more than 50 United Rentals branches in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, the new contractor supplies warehouse will stock 8,000 line items including saw blades, power tools, and safety gear.
"The Portland distribution center is an extremely fast and convenient way for our customers in the Northwest to fill their many jobsite needs," said Peter Hofbauer, director of logistics and distribution for United Rentals. "Customers who place orders before 4 p.m. can expect same-day shipment of their supplies."
The company has established similar contractor supplies distribution centers in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, California, and Texas. United Rentals expects to stock 10,000 contractor supply line items at each of its distribution centers by year's end.
