October 20, 2004—United Rentals, Greenwich, Conn., announced last week that it has purchased Atlantic Rentals Ltd. of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. Atlantic Rentals has 16 locations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island.
Established in 1960, Atlantic Rentals is the largest equipment rental company in Canada's Maritime Provinces, with revenues of approximately US$35 million. The company primarily serves the rental needs of construction, industrial, forestry, fishing and government customers, and provides related equipment sales, parts and service.
According to John Milne, United Rentals president and chief financial officer, the Maritime Provinces are a new market for the company. With this acquisition, United Rentals now serves customers in all 10 provinces with approximately 100 Canadian branches.
