June 6, 2018 - Winners of Crane Hot Line magazine’s 2017 and 2018 Top Trainer competitions received trophies and scholarship checks during the recent Association of Crane & Rigging Professionals (ACRP) annual conference in Houston, Texas.

ACRP endorses the Top Trainer competition.

Each year, the competition names one top trainer in the Professional category and one in the Corporate category.

The Professional category is for trainers that work for companies whose principal business is training. The Corporate category is for trainers who work in a company whose principal business is not training, such as a crane rental company or a parts supplier.

A change in the timing of the competition between 2017 and 2018 resulted in four winners being honored at this year’s ACRP conference.

From 2007 through 2017, winners were announced in November and formally honored at the ACRP annual conference the following May. Starting in 2018, the competition is now scheduled so that winners are named in March and are honored just two months later at the ACRP’s May event.

As a result, the two Top Trainers from 2017 and the two from 2018 were all honored at the ACRP’s 2018 annual conference this May.

The 2017 Top Trainer in the Corporate category is Ian Chase of Morrow Equipment Company.

The 2017 Top Trainer in the Professional category is Joe Bob Williams of Crane Inspection & Certification Bureau (CICB).

The 2018 Top Trainer in the Corporate category is Al Abel of Mazzella Companies.

The 2018 Top Trainer in the Professional category is William Elmore of Alaska Crane Consultants. A prior commitment prevented Elmore from attending.
