Crane Hot Line

Struck by Crane - State College, Pa.

June 2015 – OSHA is investigating a fatal accident on the Penn State campus in which a crane operator was killed when he was struck by the crane he was disassembling. The accident happened as the 350-ton crane was on a truckbed. The operator had disconnected three pins, and struck the last with a sledge hammer when the apparently unsecured boom dropped. The man was taken to a hospital for head, shoulder, and hand injuries; he died three days later.  -- www.centredaily.com
