Stafford Crane Group (SCG), based in Phoenix, AZ, is set to launch the development of a new ship-to-shore (STS) crane, designed and manufactured entirely in the USA. This initiative, spearheaded by SCG President Patrick Stafford and Co-Owner Derek Stafford, aligns with the current Build America Buy America (BABA) policies aimed at bolstering domestic manufacturing and reducing reliance on foreign products.
The new crane will be developed through SCG's Milan-based engineering studio, leveraging the company’s extensive experience in tower crane manufacturing and heavy-duty gantry cranes, including their work on the NASSCO project. This development will also explore advancements in automation, eco-energy, and sustainability, incorporating cutting-edge technology and stringent security measures.
SCG plans to use high-quality American components to ensure compliance with BABA guidelines and address recent security concerns in the industry. The company is also considering the establishment of a new subsidiary dedicated to this STS crane line.
Despite this new venture, SCG reassures its tower crane clients that production and delivery schedules will remain unaffected. The Stafford family is committed to delivering a fully American-made STS/Panamax crane to the domestic market, emphasizing their dedication to quality and local manufacturing.
