A crane operator plunged 15 feet into a concrete vault being installed in an 8-foot-deep hole when his crane flipped. The vault, on the crane’s hook, was being aligned with the hole in the ground when the crane overturned, and the operator landed in the center of the dirt-filled hole. A platform had to be built over a void area around the vault so firefighters could climb into the hole and rescue the man. Firefighters also had to contain hydraulic diesel fuel and oil leaking from the crane. OSHA will investigate the cause of the accident. – goupstate.com
