August 18, 2004 - Linamar Corp., parent company of Skyjack, Inc., Guelph , Ontario , announced its sales increased by 25 percent, or $94 million, in the second quarter of 2004. This is up to $467.1 million from $373 million in the second quarter of 2003. The first six months of 2004 resulted in a sales increase of $153.8 million, or 20.5 percent, for a total of $904 million, compared to $750.2 million in 2003. Linamar attributes the increase to strong performance in newly launched programs, strong sales in light vehicle and heavy truck automotive programs, 2003 acquisition consolidations, and continued growth in industrial product sales, which includes Skyjack scissor lifts.
Linamar's Industrial Products group, which primarily consists of Skyjack, continued to post strong sales growth in the second quarter of 2004 compared to the same period in 2003. Linamar projects that the Industrial Products group will be positively affected by continued market growth, but it also remains realistic about the competitive nature of the market and severe price pressures.
Three of Skyjack's more popular scissor lifts include the models 8831, 8841, and 9250. The rough-terrain scissor lifts feature platform heights of 31, 41, and 50 feet, respectively. The largest machine has a platform capacity to 2,500 pounds, gradeability to 30%, and a deck that rolls out to 74"x168". Engine choices include liquid-cooled dual fuel and diesel. All models come standard with four-wheel drive.
