Single Management Structure Under AEM to Operate CONEXPO-CON/AGG

December 1, 2004—A new cooperative agreement between the owners and producers of CONEXPO-CON/AGG gives control of the show to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) to be produced every three years through 2020.

This agreement replaces the joint venture originally signed in 1999 in which the show was operated by an AEM-ICAG dual management system. The International Concrete and Aggregates Group represents the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association and the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association.

The efficiencies of a single management structure will be vested in AEM, which will control the show and has entered into a non-compete arrangement with ICAG. There will be no interruption of service in the planning and operation of the next event, to be held March 15-19, 2005, which is expected to attract more than 100,000 attendees. The single management structure will commence on May 31, 2005, with planning for the 2008 show. Show operations will be conducted from the Milwaukee headquarters office of AEM.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG is the evolution of two industry trade expositions first held in the early 1900s. AEM is the owner of the CONEXPO construction machinery exposition, first held in 1908. ICAG owns CON/AGG, which targets construction materials and was first staged in the early 1920s. The two shows joined forces to hold the first CONEXPO-CON/AGG in 1996. The exposition is held every three years.

In other news, AEM has elected its 2005 officers. Charles Stamp, Jr., of Deere & Company, Moline, Ill., has been elected chairman of the association. Other officers elected to serve in 2005 are First Vice Chairman Gerald Shaheen of Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Ill.; Second Vice Chairman Dennis Eagan of Blount Inc., Zebulon, N.C.; Treasurer Charles Martz of Link-Belt Construction Equipment Company, Lexington, Ky.; and Secretary Dennis Slater, AEM's full-time President.
