Senna Tree Company Adds 2018 Grove GMK 5150 to Fleet

September 12, 2018 - Senna Tree Company LLC, Sun Valley, California, has added a new Grove GMK 5150 175-ton-capacity all-terrain crane to its fleet.

Senna Tree specializes in relocating and selling large specimen trees. The company’s 2004 move of a 58’ tall, 916,000-lb. oak set a Guinness World Record as the largest tree move ever made.

In addition to custom residential, Senna Tree Co. performs work for theme parks, golf courses, cities, developers, builders, casinos, and resorts. The company is also licensed in Nevada.

In its work, Senna uses a fleet of five hydraulic cranes with capacities from 30 to 175 tons.

Senna recently boosted its crane capacity by adding a new 175-ton Grove GMK 5150 to its fleet. Senna Tree purchased the crane through Western Pacific Crane & Equipment, Fontana, California.

“We ordered the crane specifically to meet our clients’ needs, to get more capacity into the tight spaces associated with California’s affluent residential neighborhoods,” said Senna president, John Mote, Sr.

“The 5150 is just 9” longer than our [Grove TM 9120 truck crane] but is much narrower,  9’6” wide compared to 10’11” plus the GMK 5150’s all-wheel steering and ability to lower or raise the crane and its five outrigger positions will enable us to access more opportunity,” said Mote.

“With 167’ of main boom, the chart suits heavy trees, and we can travel with all 98,100 lbs. of counterweight between the crane and two semi-trucks,” Mote added.

“Western Pacific sold us the crane, Manitowoc provided financing, and we have been pleasantly surprised by the ease of the whole experience,” said Mote.
