Runaway Crane Eau Claire, Wis.
September 2015 – High waters were blamed when a barge, carrying a crawler crane, broke away from its mooring near the confluence of the Eau Claire and Chippewa Rivers, and drifted about 500 yds. downstream. The crane barge stopped floating when it hit a sandbar, and water coming down the Chippewa River was slowed by about two-thirds to keep it from moving further. Construction crews moved the crane barge back to shore, according to local fire officials. - www.leadertelegram.com
