The South Pier project in Tempe, Arizona, is rapidly transforming the skyline with Stafford Tower Cranes. The residential towers are coming together nicely and will reach 21 stories upon completion. Located on the banks of Tempe Town Lake, this project hopes to redefine waterfront living in Phoenix.
In collaboration with Clayco, Stafford Crane Group (SGC) has provided three STF-8041 cranes, with the “west crane” climbing to an impressive 332 feet during phase 2. Each crane boasts a maximum load capacity of 32 tons and a tip load of 4.1 tons, anchored securely to a concrete foundation.
The strategic location along Tempe Town Lake offers both opportunities and challenges, including precise zoning for over-swing areas. Safety remains paramount, with rigorous protocols and expert crane operators ensuring a secure construction environment.
The SCG team efficiently erected all three cranes within six days, using a Tadano AC 7.450-1 as the assist crane.
The project has now entered the second phase of development along the south bank of Tempe Town Lake. The three towers, currently under construction, will feature both residential and commercial units, with a projected completion date in 2026.
