May 4, 2005 • Perkins Shibaura Engines Limited has been awarded a 2005 Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category for its design winning 400 Series engines • exported to North America, Europe, and the Middle East. The Queen's Award for Enterprise, for U.K. businesses, is an independent endorsement of a company's quality.

“The 400 Series is well established as a class leader in the small engines market. Its popularity is steadily increasing as more and more original equipment manufacturers gain first hand experience of these engines,” said David Goldspink, general manager, Perkins Shibaura Engines Limited.

To meet demands, a Perkins manufacturing plant was opened in Griffin, Ga., in 2004, which now provides 400 Series engines to North American OEMs. It is expected to produce as many as 60,000 engines.

Perkins and Japanese manufacturer Ishikawajima Shibaura Machinery Company Ltd. (ISM) launched a joint venture company, Perkins Shibaura Engines, Ltd., and a manufacturing facility in 1996 adjacent to the Perkins main manufacturing plant in Peterborough, UK. The original product was the Perkins 100 Series engine.
