MCG's Philippe Cohet

September 23, 2004—

• The American Rental Association announces newly elected board members, including President-Elect: Carl Newman, A & A Rentals, Sevierville, Tenn., and Associate Member Director: Dennis Von Ruden, General Equipment Company, Owatonna, Minn. Newman will begin his term immediately, while the new directors will assume board seats in February 2005, immediately following The Rental Show.

 

Other directors include Region One: Mike Flesher, Taylor Rental Center, Vestal, N.Y.; Region Four: Ed Wadley, Taylor's Rental Equipment, Fort Worth, Texas; and Region Five: Terry Bryant, Bryant's Rent-All, Lexington, Ky.

 

• The Manitowoc Crane Group has announced Philippe Cohet is joining the organization as executive vice president of the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region. Philippe will take up the post early September and succeeds Jean-Yves Bouffault. He will report directly to Glen Tellock, president and general manager of Manitowoc Crane Group, from MCG's facility in Ecully, France and manage all aspects of the EMEA region.

 

Philippe is an accomplished senior manager with over 20 years experience in the chemical industry. He comes to Manitowoc Crane Group from Rhodia, a world leader in specialty chemicals, where he held various roles of increasing responsibility, including process engineer, strategic studies manager, and business director. He was later promoted to vice president and general manager Industrial Specialties North American division, where he increased the group's profitability more than fourfold from 1994 to 1997.

 

• United Rentals, Inc., Greenwich, Conn., announces that Mark Suwyn has joined the company's board of directors. Mr. Suwyn, 62, has served as the chairman and chief executive officer of Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, a leading manufacturer of building materials, since 1996. He recently announced plans to retire from these positions at the end of October.
