OSHA Fines Vidor, Texas
December 2015 – OSHA has proposed a Houston construction services company pay more than $100,000 in fines after the crane-related death of a worker at a Vidor, Texas petrochemical facility last June. The worker sustained fatal injuries when the crane’s remote control failed and the operator was unable to control the boom’s movement. It was determined that because of the defective crane the worker was pinned and killed.
OSHA cited Trans-Global Solutions with one willful violation for operating a defective crane, and seven serious violations for failing to conduct inspections and address electrical and drowning hazards. The proposed penalties are $109,000. - www.workerscompensation.com
