OSHA Fines Lincoln, Neb.

October, 2015 – OSHA has proposed a Missouri drilling contractor pay nearly $15,000 in fines after the crane-related death of a worker on a construction site in Lincoln, Neb., last summer. The 42-year-old worker from Sedalia, Mo., died after he was struck in the head by an 80-ft. piece of rebar that fell 130 ft. from a crane.

The man’s employer, CBS Piling Solutions of Riverside, Mo., was drilling foundation holes on a student housing project near the University of Nebraska-Lincoln downtown campus when the accident occurred June 24,, 2015. Co-workers tried to revive the man, who died before paramedics arrived.

CBS was cited by OSHA for three serious safety violations, improper rigging of the load; failing to adequately train workers; and failing to remove non-essential employees from an area using cranes. – Missourinet.com
