Mamut Daru Kft., a Hungarian rental fleet company specializing in heavy lifting solutions, has deployed its first Raimondi T187 tower crane for a significant renovation project in Budapest.
The project focuses on the renovation of the main building and the library of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a scientific public body nearing its 200th anniversary. Due to the historical and cultural importance of the building, this renovation is one of the most notable jobsites in Hungary, holding substantial significance in the European historic places landscape.
“We decided to expand our rental fleet with the company’s first Raimondi crane, a new T187; we opted for this model for its excellent specifications in terms of lifting capabilities and speed,” said Csaba Balogh, general manager of Mamut Daru. Balogh highlighted that the crane’s weight-optimized components, facilitating the installation procedure, along with its maximum lifting capacity of 10 tons, were crucial factors in selecting this model for the project.
Deployed in February 2024 with the support of a Raimondi operations team, the T187 is erected with a jib length of 55 meters at a freestanding height of 47.5 meters. Boasting a tip load of 3.14 tons, the crane can lift at a maximum speed of 115 meters per minute in the 37kW winch version, with a drum capacity of 620 meters. The modularity and interchangeability of the T Series components also influenced the purchase decision, as Mamut Daru plans to expand its fleet with additional Raimondi models.
“Participating in such a renowned refurbishment marks a milestone for our company. This significant responsibility posed technical challenges due to the site location and nature. Preserving the historic buildings while working within tight site confines required precise crane positioning, excellent site coordination and accurate work from the installation team,” Head of Tower Cranes, Peter Kaszoni, said.
Equipped with the Lumina crane cabin and ConCore, Raimondi’s advanced control system, the T187 features improved error diagnostics and troubleshooting, faster calibration and settings, and enhanced remote assistance for instant and effective intervention.
