New Lifting Gear Hire Distribution Center Endures Katrina's Wrath

September 8, 2005 — Despite mandatory evacuations imposed throughout the city of New Orleans and flood waters in the early stages of recession in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Lifting Gear Hire Corp. is pleased to report that there has been little to no damage to the building and inventory of its new distribution center recently opened in July.

The distribution center is located in the Jefferson Parish area of New Orleans — one of the many parishes that faces evacuations of at least one month. While news reports indicate that the majority of the flooding in the parish has been drained, residents with an ID were permitted to return on September 6 but urged to gather belongings and leave. Electrical and sewerage capabilities are still ceased, and parish officials predict it will be weeks before Jefferson Parish is livable.

“We've been in contact with all Lifting Gear Hire employees from the New Orleans distribution center and are relieved to report that they are all safe,” said Tony Fiscelli, General Manager of Lifting Gear Hire's USA headquarters, located in Bridgeview, Ill. “As a company, we plan to repair the minimal damages that have been incurred at the new distribution center and move forward with business. We also plan to assist with the rebuilding of the city of New Orleans.”
