NER Reports Stolen Cargo Bound for JLG

June 1, 2005 — According to a recent report in the American Rental Association's Rental Pulse newsletter, the National Equipment Register (NER) is asking all rental owners to be on the lookout for 41 Deutz engines that were reported stolen between April 29 and May 1 from Prides Travel Plaza, Exit 77 off of I-77, in Rock Hill, S.C.

According to the alert, initially sent out by the International Cargo Security Council, the shipment of engines was in transit from the Deutz facility in Norcross, Ga., destined for JLG in McConnellsburg, Pa. The theft occurred at a truck stop near Rock Hill, S.C., which is south of Charlotte, N.C., on I-77 and has been the scene of several other cargo thefts recently. The engines are applicable only to JLG's medium and large scissor lifts and articulated boom lifts. According to Deutz, the engines would require significant modification to be used in other applications.

A list of the engine models and serial numbers is available upon request from NER (866) 663-7872 or www.nerusa.com. Rental managers who have any information that might assist in the recovery of the engines should call Detective Lisa Allen at the Rock Hill Police Department (803) 329-7292.
