April 6, 2005 — National Crane, part of the Manitowoc Crane Group, Manitowoc, Wis., showed three boom trucks at ConExpo, including the 690E, the longest crane in the five model 600E Series. The 20-ton boom truck has a four-section boom capable of extending 24 to 80 feet, and it's also available with a two-section jib offering additional reach between 25 and 45 feet. The maximum tip height when fitted with the full jib is 144 feet.
Also shown at ConExpo was National's Model 9125A, the newest in the four model 900A Series of boom trucks. This crane is the new long boom version of the Model 9103A, which is tailored for applications where additional reach is required, such as wire-line support work in oil fields. The 9125 has a 125-foot boom -- more than an additional 20 feet than the Model 9103A -- allowing it to handle the large testing equipment needed for wire-line support work in high-pressure oil wells.
“This crane has worldwide appeal,” says John Lukow, vice president of sales at National Crane. “But we're already finding large pockets of interest from Texas, Wyoming, and Utah in the United States, while companies from as far as Mexico, Canada, and South America have also been inquiring about the crane.”
The third unit on-display was the Model 18103 from the Series 1800, the largest crane range in the National product line. The Model 18103 has the shortest boom in the Series 1800 at 103 feet, and an optional two-section jib allows it to extend an additional 55 feet.

All National Cranes at ConExpo featured National's advanced variable displacement hydraulic system, which provides constant pressure control and flows where and when it's needed. A Hydraulic Capacity Alert (HCA) system is also standard equipment on all the cranes. Go to www.manitowoccranegroup.com for information.
