Manitowoc Sells 100,000th Potain Crane to AmQuip

March 15, 2005 • The Manitowoc Crane Group, Manitowoc, Wis., announced at ConExpo the delivery of its 100,000th Potain crane to AmQuip, Bensalem, Pa. In cooperation with Coast Crane, Seattle, Wash., the MDT178 topless city crane was sold to AmQuip in order for Manitowoc to fulfill a $30 million tower crane order.

The AmQuip order marks one of the largest single tower crane purchases by a crane rental company in North America. "We're always among the first to innovate in the crane industry, whether it be taking newly-launched machines or trying out new technology," AmQuip CEO Joseph Wesley, Jr., said. According to Wesley, one of the deciding factors in signing the agreement for the Potain products was that the company owns numerous cranes from other Manitowoc Crane Group brands.
