Manitex Announces New X-Style Outrigger Boom Trucks

March 23, 2005 • Manitex, Georgetown, Texas, announced during ConExpo an all-new boom truck series featuring X-style outriggers. The model 124SX was not on display, however, because all available units had already shipped to a powerline construction contractor in Minnesota.

The 124SX is the larger of two models in the 2802SX series, which also includes the 102SX. The crane features a maximum capacity of 30 tons and a five-section 124-foot boom. A one-section 31-foot jib is also available.

Pilot operated controls with optional free swing allow for precise metering and multifunction capability. The free swing continuous rotation system is an externally mounted, double reduction planetary gearbox driven by hydraulic motor.

The lower frame is mounted to the chassis by threaded rods and clamp plates. No welding to truck chassis is required. The lower frame is a torsion resistant, rigid welded plate design with integrated pedestal.

Patented X-style outriggers provide all around stability to create a 360° work zone without the need of a front-mounted stabilizer. Outriggers operate independently for precise leveling. Go to www.manitex.com for information.
