Mammoet Orders Liebherr LR 13000 Crawler Crane
May 3, 2012—The first new Liebherr 3,000-tonne (3,307 U.S. ton) crawler crane is going to Mammoet Global B.V., one of the world´s market leaders in engineered heavy lifting and transport. The contract was signed at Intermat 2012 in Paris between Mammoet COO Herman Smit and Liebherr Ehingen MD Christoph Kleiner.
The LR 13000 will be mobilized and set up in Whiting. Ind.. at the beginning of September, where it wil be used on a refinery extension project. The crane will be configured with a 78 metre (256-foot) main boom and a 72 metre (236-foot) luffing jib using the derrick attachment.
Mammoet decided on the Liebherr LR 13000, the largest conventional crawler crane in the world, because of its enormous load capacity and high flexibility. Mammoet also plans to use the LR 13000 on power station construction projects and jobs in the petrochemical sector. The advantages of the LR13000 include its ability to travel under full load and a wide range of boom systems, from light to super-heavy, with the new P-boom.
