Longview Advantage Debuts New Series at ICUEE

September 27, 2005 • The Advantage Series of telematics devices is being introduced by Longview Advantage Inc., Calgary, Alberta, at this year's ICUEE show held in Louisville, Ken., Sept. 27-29. The first two products to launch, the Advantage 1000 and 2000 feature a new environmentally rugged housing called the Longview StrongBox™ — a compact die-cast aluminum housing that surrounds the device components — and a protected fixed I/O connector for input power protection and transient handling capability. The new protected input/output (I/O) connector terminates inside the tracking device enclosure, allowing it to be installed in severe operating environments. It also operates in systems from 12 to 36 volts DC, and offers surge and transient suppression, plus over voltage and reverse voltage protection.

The Advantage 2000 incorporates multiple-hour meter connections to measure various machine elements on a single vehicle or piece of heavy equipment. With multiple hour meters, this model can measure many different components on a piece of heavy equipment or service truck. Users can monitor engine run time, Power Take Off (PTO) operation, mileage, and attachment hours like a compressor or crane. Status of machines can also be viewed through the company's online account option.

The Advantage 1000 is the basic ruggedized model with one hour meter for tracking engine run time. Both products have flexible theft protection features, using a vFence™ or virtual fence to surround a machine. If an asset moves outside of this invisible perimeter, an alarm is sent to Longview's 24/7 Alarm and Recovery Center, who can then work with local authorities to recover the equipment.

Next year, the company plans to launch more advanced configurations in this series, including a digital version that will have a substantial range of service offerings for even more extensive fleet monitoring and analysis.
