August 4, 2004 - Hydra Platforms Mfg., Lake Wylie, S.C., introduces the HPT 66 truck-mounted under bridge access unit with an extended platform length of 66 feet. According to Hydra Platforms, this unit is the longest mobile access platform manufactured in the United States.
Specifications include a 3.5' x 66' platform, 1,400-pound platform capacity, and 180° platform rotation. This machine has a vertical height clearance of 7'8" and a maximum lowering depth of 24 feet. Overall unit size is 8'2"x48'0"x13'5", and it weighs 55,000 pounds.
The HPT 66 hydraulically erects in five minutes while occupying only one lane of traffic. This machine is self-propelled both on the bridge before deployment and when the platform is deployed and in operation under the bridge.
Hydra Platforms also offers its patented adjustable Tower Separation System on the HPT 66, which allows the platform to erect and operate on bridges with pedestrian sidewalks and other barriers without restricting the platform drop depth or limiting the reach over the sidewalk. The access ladder to the platform is mounted inside the tower for safe personnel access when the unit is erected and in operation. Crossover access to the tower/platform remains horizontal at all times for personnel safety. An optional elevated scaffold can by mounted on the platform to allow elevated access between girders under the bridge.
All Hydra Platform machines incorporate a voice-activated communication system that reaches from the platform to the master control on the trailer or in the truck cab.
