Renowned as the pinnacle accolades within the crane and heavy-lift sector, the ESTA Awards celebrate innovation, excellence and, above all, safety. This year, Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH clinched the award in the "safety" category, underscoring its commitment to advancing safety standards in crane operations.
At the heart of Liebherr's triumph lies its groundbreaking safety concept for lifting work with crawler cranes on floating units — an initiative that impressed the discerning jury panel. Spearheading this endeavor is Managing Director Gerhard Frainer, who received the coveted award on behalf of the company.
Liebherr's innovative approach to safety encompasses various measures, including the revolutionary "vertical line finder," a sophisticated system designed to prevent inclined lifts during load handling operations. This technology is instrumental in mitigating risks associated with shifts in the center of gravity, ensuring optimal safety for crane operators and on-site personnel.
"The award is recognition of our efforts to design safe cranes and construction machines - especially as it is the second award in this category since 2022. As a leading manufacturer of cranes, the safety of jobsite personnel is of the utmost importance to us. Our digital solutions and assistance systems are a direct result of this commitment," Frainer said.
Central to Liebherr's safety strategy is the implementation of the "floating unit operation" mode, which addresses the unique challenges posed by operating cranes on floating units. By integrating load moment limitation into the control system and providing real-time monitoring of barge inclination, Liebherr's cranes offer enhanced stability.
