Liebherr Unveils the 620 HC-L Luffing Jib Crane
Liebherr has expanded its luffing jib crane lineup with the introduction of the 620 HC-L 18/36, model designed to meet the demands of complex construction projects. Boasting increased lifting capacity and a compact design, the 620 HC-L is tailored for use in dense urban environments and large-scale construction sites.
As the successor to the 440 HC-L, the 620 HC-L provides key advancements that enhance efficiency and site logistics. It operates with a maximum lifting capacity of 19.84 tons in a single-fall configuration and up to 39.68 tons in two-fall operation.
The crane’s 65-meter jib length and innovative Load-Plus function — capable of increasing lifting capacity by up to 76% for specific load charts — make it a standout in its class.
Optimized Height and Versatility
The 620 HC-L is compatible with the 24 HC 630 tower system, allowing for a freestanding height of up to 243 feet. This compatibility reduces acquisition costs and increases flexibility, as the same tower sections can be used for both the 440 HC-L and the 620 HC-L. The system’s optimized tower design eliminates the need for complex building tie-ins, accelerating the construction process.
With an out-of-service position of just 39 feet and an operating position as compact as 13 feet, the 620 HC-L is well-suited for confined construction sites. Its space-saving design enables multiple cranes to operate efficiently in close quarters, simplifying site planning and execution.
Enhanced Assembly and Efficiency
Liebherr has engineered the 620 HC-L for rapid deployment. The crane’s hoist and luffing ropes arrive pre-wound on the drum, significantly reducing on-site setup time. Additionally, the crane’s modular components require only 10 transport units at full radius, including counter-ballast, cutting down on logistics costs.
A plug-and-play system featuring a centralized switchgear cabinet and quick electrical and mechanical connections further streamlines assembly, ensuring a swift and secure setup.
State-of-the-Art Control and Safety Features
Equipped with Liebherr’s EMS-4 control unit and advanced drive technology, the 620 HC-L delivers precision and reliability. The crane’s TC-OS platform integrates a 12-inch display with an intuitive menu and configuration wizard, simplifying setup and enhancing safety.
For maximum operator convenience, a radio control unit with a 3.5-inch display enables remote management of key functions, including Load-Plus, Micromove and electric weathervaning. These features contribute to a seamless and secure user experience.
