Konecranes has launched its latest advancement in explosion-proof technology with its Konecranes EX C-series electric chain hoist, designed specifically for hazardous Zone 1/2/21 environments. Available in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and in and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) regions, this new hoist is engineered to provide enhanced safety and precision in industries such as oil and gas, chemicals and refineries, where explosive atmospheres are a constant concern.
The Konecranes EX C-series hoist for Zone 1/2/21 introduces an industry-first inverter-controlled trolley positioning system, allowing for smooth and precise movement. With a lifting capacity of up to 2.5 tons and certifications meeting both Atmosphere Explosible and International Electrotechnical Commission System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Explosive Atmospheres standards, this hoist is built for reliability in gas and dust-laden environments.
The EX C-series’ comprehensive EX certification applies to the entire hoist, simplifying compliance for customers.
“At Konecranes, safety is always our top priority. While it’s impossible to eliminate all risks in explosive environments, the right equipment and training can significantly enhance both safety and efficiency. Our extensive experience with explosion-proof products has helped us to develop a comprehensive range of cranes and components that meet strict standards, including our latest Konecranes EX C-series hoist for Zone 1/2/21,” Raine Jussila, sales support manager, hazardous environment products said.
Key Features of the Konecranes EX C-Series for Zone 1/2/21:
Designed for both gas and dust-heavy environments, the EX C-series serves industries where flammable substances or combustible dust are present, including paper manufacturing, grain storage and LNG plants. This versatility makes the hoist a crucial tool for safe and reliable material handling in demanding settings.
The EX C-series is produced at Konecranes’ Hämeenlinna factory in Finland, which became CarbonNeutral certified in 2023. The facility has reduced emissions by 72% since 2019 through renewable energy use and efficiency improvements, with remaining emissions offset by carbon credits supporting a reforestation project.
Available now in the EMEA and APAC regions, the Konecranes EX C-series for Zone 1/2/21 will soon expand to the Americas market. Backed by Konecranes’ global service and parts network, the EX C-series offers customers reliable support for long-term safety and performance.
