January 3, 2005—Kobelco Cranes reports that sales of crawler cranes in 2004 were at a 10-year high for the company. Jos Verhulst, sales manager for Kobelco Cranes Europe, attributes the company's success to its reorganization. Kobelco Cranes Co., Ltd., with operations in the United States, Europe, and China, has functioned as an independent company within the Kobe Steel Group since September 2003.

“The new strategy of KOBELCO CRANES as an independent company with accelerated decision making, local initiative, determined action, personalized service. and global business operations is really paying off,” says Verhulst.

Among the company's bestsellers are the 80-ton CKE800 and 250-ton CKE2500. More than 200 units in the 200- to 250-ton class have been sold in the past four years.
