KEM Announces 5.7L Certified LSI Engine

October 12, 2004—KEM Equipment, Inc., a unit of Travis Industries, Tualatin, Ore., has developed a series of certified industrial engines to comply with the 2004-2007 U.S. EPA and CARB emissions regulations for mobile industrial (LSI) engines. KEM's POWER line features GM Powertrain base engines ranging from 1.6 to 5.7 liters and are available in various configurations, including dedicated LPG, dedicated gasoline, dedicated natural gas (5.7L only) and dual-fuel gasoline/LPG.

According to the company, KEM's 5.7 liter engine is the only certified engine in this displacement range. The certified engine systems are being offered through a strategic alliance between KEM Equipment and Precision Governors LLC, of Rockford, Ill. Precision Governors will supply state-of-the-art fuel system components and the latest technologies in electronic fuel and engine management, allowing a combined offering of the most powerful, cost effective and fuel efficient engines in the mobile industrial sector.
