JLG will unveil its new compact telehandlers at WOC next year.

November 2, 2005 JLG Industries, Inc., McConnellsburg, Pa., will introduce two new compact telehandlers for the North American market at the 2006 World of Concrete to be held Jan. 17-20 in Las Vegas. These machines are designed with features for use in a wide variety of applications where compact size and maneuverability are highly valued, including applications in landscaping, agriculture, and general construction.

The 6,600-pound maximum lift capacity unit offers a forward reach of 12.8 feet. Features include a cab design for improved operator vision and 140° carriage rotation. A mechanical quick switch enables fast changes from forks to other attachments such as the general-purpose bucket, a digging bucket, and a truss boom.

Other features include a 100-hp Deutz diesel engine, four-wheel drive, 45 percent gradeability, and compact dimensions. For maneuverability on crowded or unimproved job sites, the four-wheel steering can be used for circle steer or crab steer, or the machine can be steered with the front wheels alone. Optional accessories include air conditioning, road lights, front and rear cab work lights, a rotating beacon, and a radio.

JLG will also introduce a slightly smaller telehandler with similar design features, 5,700 pounds of lifting capacity, and 19-foot maximum lifting heights.

In other news, Caterpillar, Peoria, Ill., announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to enter into a global alliance with JLG Industries, in which JLG will design and produce a full CAT-branded telehandler product line exclusively for Caterpillar dealers. See related story.
