JLG Selects Xantrex to Supply Inverters for AWPs

February 13, 2006 JLG Industries, Inc., McConnelsburg, Pa., recently announced it will use a new weatherproof inverter/charger from Xantrex Technology, Vancouver, B.C., for its scissor lifts.

Designed specifically for use on aerial lifts, the Xantrex RM1024 is a 1000W inverter combined with a 25A three-stage battery charger. This inverter will supply AC power on JLG lifts so workers can run tools or equipment from the platform, while the charger will be used to recharge the onboard battery bank. The inverter converts 24VDC power to 120VAC power, and the battery charger converts 120VAC to 24VDC to recharge the battery bank quickly and efficiently.

The Xantrex inverter/charger is fully weatherproof, which is an important design requirement for JLG because its lifts are used in a wide range of operating conditions, including regular exposure to water and dust.

"We're pleased to be selected by JLG Industries to provide inverter/chargers for their product line," said Xantrex CEO John Wallace. "Xantrex was able to leverage its experience and expertise in supplying inverters for the demanding heavy-duty truck market to the aerial lift market. Both markets require a product that can work reliably in all types of harsh conditions."

Having reliable chargers and inverters is key to keeping ownership and operating costs low for our customers, explains Howard Kaplan, vice president, Product Parent, JLG Industries. "Our confidence in Xantrex is backed by their extended warranty that we are happy to pass on to our
customers,” he says. “The 25A charger and 1000W inverter also provide upgrades in productivity and power to run tools."
