January 11, 2006 — JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, Pa., announced it will reopen the 13,000-square-foot Sunnyside Road manufacturing facility in Bedford, Pa. This facility will consolidated all manufacturing, sales, marketing, engineering, and administrative functions of the company's Commercial Solutions Group, which focuses on the commercial and industrial markets channels for access equipment. JLG also announced plans to construct a new 35,000-square-foot research and development facility in McConnellsburg for developing new and improved products and accessories.
According to Bill Lasky chairman of the board, president, and chief executive officer, reopening the Sunnyside Road facility is consistent with the organizational alignments announced in late 2005. “These investments in additional capacity and the associated reconfigurations at our existing facilities will increase our overall manufacturing capacity, further optimize our facility utilization and position us to more effectively satisfy rising customer demand,” he added.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania worked with JLG on its expansion plans, providing economic assistance and incentives to move forward and create additional jobs, Lasky said. According to Governor Edward G. Rendell, JLG's expansion is good news for Pennsylvania, as it creates new jobs and helps revitalize the state's economy. "[JLG] is sending a message to other companies that Pennsylvania is a great place to grow and build a business,” Rendell added.
