The initiative focuses on product lines that are more appropriate for non-construction applications, although the CSG team will have access to the entire JLG product portfolio. These lines include vertical mast-style aerial work platforms (including upcoming products from the company's recent acquisition of Delta Manlift SAS), store support vehicles, small electric articulating boom lifts, electric scissor lifts, and trailers.
Lift and Access's Guy Ramsey recently test drove the new SSV10 store support vehicle, which features a 10-foot platform height and 16 feet of reach for tasks such as restocking. The unit has a capacity of up to 600 pounds—350 pounds in the operator compartment and up to 250 pounds on the material tray. It also features Point & Go® drive and steer system and zero turning radius.
Central to the CSG initiative is the establishment of a dealer network to serve this non-construction customer base. David Smidlein, CSG's general manager, is leading the search for suitable dealers. Smidlein reports to Tim Morris, vice president of sales for domestic distribution.
According to Craig Paylor, Senior Vice President - Sales, Marketing and Customer Support, “This initiative is designed to introduce existing JLG products to a wide variety of industrial and commercial markets.”
