June 6, 2005 — The U.S. Marine Corps has placed a $13 million order with JLG Industries, McConnellsburg, Pa., for 133 telescopic handlers through February 2006. Also known as Millennia Military Vehicles (MMVs), the contract includes associated kits, enhanced warranty, and technical data.

"Supporting our customers is core to our business philosophy," says David Peacock, director, Military Programs at
JLG. "As the global leader in access equipment, we are pleased to have this opportunity to provide our customers value-add products and services."

This announcement is just one of many military contracts awarded to JLG in the last several years. For example, in April 2005 the company secured a $6.7 million contract with the Army for all-terrain lifter army system (ATLAS) vehicles for use in overseas military operations. In September 2004, it announced a three-year, $21 million contract with the Army for the reconditioning of an estimated 350 ATLAS vehicles and 350 predecessor models (read original report). In April 2004, JLG was awarded a two-year contract with the U.S. Marines for the refurbishing of the Tier 1 telehandler fleet, comprised of 132 MMVs deployed in April 2002 with active duty forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom (read original report).
