JJ Curran Crane, a leading crane rental service provider, is celebrating its 75th anniversary. The company, which has built a strong reputation for service, innovation and community involvement, marks the milestone under the theme Lifting Together: 75 Years of Family and Community.
Founded in 1950 by John (JJ) Curran as Dearborn Excavating, the company began with a single backhoe before purchasing its first crane in 1954. By 1959, JJ Curran Crane had officially transitioned to a full-service crane provider. In the 1970s, the company introduced hydraulic truck cranes to the Detroit market, helping establish its role as a pioneer in the heavy-lifting industry.
Today, JJ Curran Crane remains a family-owned business, led by Jeff Curran, son of the founder. The company continues to modernize its fleet, which ranges from 8 to 450 tons, while staying true to its core values of trust, quality and teamwork.
“Lifting Together: 75 Years of Family and Community is more than a campaign—it’s a celebration of the values that have shaped our journey,” said Jeff Curran, president of JJ Curran Crane. “We are grateful to our employees, customers, and partners who have supported us along the way. Together, we reflect on our shared accomplishments and look ahead to a future guided by the same principles that built this company.”
Throughout 2025, the company will celebrate the milestone with special events, employee recognition and content highlighting its rich history.
