ISTC Selects Deep South for Top Honors

July 18, 2018- The Industrial Safety Training Council (ISTC) has honored Deep South Crane & Rigging with 3 awards: the Safety Achievement Award for Recordable Incidence Rate; the Safety Achievement Award for Years Worked; and the Safety Achievement Award for Hours Worked.
Deep South reduced its total recordable incidence rate by 62% during 2017, compared to the average incidence rate for the three previous calendar years. It also worked one year without an OSHA lost workday case, and worked more than a million hours without an OSHA lost workday case.
In addition, ISTC selected Deep South as a finalist for its 2018 Roy Comeaux Safety Excellence Through Training Award. The award recognizes safety excellent for contractors working in the petroleum, refining, and petrochemical-manufacturing industries and related services of Southeast Texas.
To become a finalist, Deep South demonstrated superior levels of consistent safety performance and safety training for its employees, including a recordable incidence rate of 1.0 or better.
After receiving the honors, Mitch Landry, president of Deep South, said how special this award is to him, then added, “Roy was a colleague and friend that I admired. We’re honored to be considered as a finalist in this category given in his honor.”
The awards were presented at ISTC’s 22nd Annual Safety Awards Banquet May 17, 2018, in Beaumont, Texas.
