HYDAC's new diagnostic tool is lightweight and portable.
March 9, 2006 — HYDAC Electronic Division, Bethlehem, Pa., recently introduced two new products: the HMG 3000 Portable Diagnostic Unit and the AS1000 Series of water sensors.

The new HMG 3000 hand-held measuring unit is a portable unit for measuring jobs in hydraulic and pneumatic systems during commissioning, service, maintenance, troubleshooting, or testing. With a HMG 3000, signals of up to 10 sensors can be recorded at the same time. In addition, HYDAC offers transmitters that are automatically recognized (HSI - HYDAC Self Identification) by the HMG. Measuring ranges and units do not require to be set by hand. Nevertheless, standard transmitters with analog signals can still be connected.

Guided by the user-friendly menu shown in the 3.5-inch color graphic display, all settings are easy to adjust. Features include simultaneous measurements of two channels with sampling rates of 0.1 ms and 8 analog channels at 0.5 ms, giving users the capability to record extremely fast pressure spikes in a hydraulic system. The unit has a USB port for connection to your PC, where you can download measurements and settings by using the latest version of HYDAC's HMGWIN software. You

also have the option to operate the HMG 3000 directly from the PC. Serial interfaces are provided for communication with older PCs and other equipment.

The AS1000 water sensor helps users keep hydraulic fluid levels in check.
The company also recently introduced a new water sensor that continuously monitors hydraulic and lubrication fluids found in mobile equipment. The HYDAC AS1000 measures water content relative to the percent of water saturation in the fluid.

The AS1000, which is CE approved and meets EMC requirements, can be installed into a system via a threaded connection. The output signal is a 4 to 20-mA signal with a temperature measurement range from -13 to 212°F.
