February 2, 2005—Shady Grove, Pa.-based Grove Crane announces the arrival of its latest rough-terrain crane, the 75-ton capacity RT875E. Look for this newest generation of RT cranes, following the 875C series, at ConExpo in March in Las Vegas, Nev. The RT875E features a four-section, full power 41- to 128-foot MEGAFORM™ boom, a 33- to 56-foot offsetable bi-fold lattice swingaway extension, and two optional 20-foot lattice extension inserts to reach a maximum tip height of 232 feet. A double-acting hydraulic cylinder with an integral holding valve elevates the boom from -3º to 78º. The crane's 18,000-pound counterweight is hydraulically installed and removed.

The RT875E's anti-two block system and load moment indicator features an audio-visual warning and control lever lockout. These systems provide electronic display of boom angle, length, radius, tip height, relative load moment, maximum permissible load, load indication, and warning of impending two-block condition. The standard work area definition system allows the operator to pre-select and define safe working areas. If the crane approaches the pre-set limits, then audio-visual warnings aid the operator in avoiding jobsite obstructions.

Features of the carrier include a chassis with a box-section frame fabricated from high-strength, low alloy steel, four hydraulic telescoping outriggers with inverted jacks and integral holding valves, and fully independent power steering. A six-cylinder Cummins QSB 5.9L diesel engine powers the RT875E. For improved operator comfort and visibility, the cab tilts 20º and offers acoustical lining and tinted safety glass throughout. Other standard equipment in the cab includes a hot water heater, cab circulating air fan, sliding side and rear window, sliding skylight with electric wiper and sunscreen, and electric windshield wipers.
