July 21, 2005 — Gatwood Crane Rental Service, Inc., Arlington Heights, Ill., recently purchased three HTC-8690 telescopic truck cranes from Link-Belt construction Equipment Co., Lexington, Ky., for delivery in the first quarter of 2005. Founded in 1947 as a crane rental service company for Chicago area contractors, Gatwood Crane Rental Service, Inc., has grown to become one of the largest crane rental companies in Chicago with a fleet of more than 40 cranes ranging in size from 10 to 360 ton lifting capacity. The company is currently in its third generation of Gatwood management, now led by Ed Gatwood.

A Link-Belt distributor for 50 years, McAllister Equipment Co., headquartered in Alsip, Ill., sold the crane to Gatwood and has full crane service at its three other Illinois branch locations in E. Peoria, Ingleside, and Rockford. “With this expanded product offering, Gatwood will be able to meet their customers' needs with a high-quality product backed by the area's dealer of choice,” said Mike McNamara, McAllister area manager. “The HTC-8690 telescopic truck cranes fill a unique niche: transportability. With its dimensions, it is the only truck crane in its size class that is able to be transported at any time, day or night, within the strict Illinois permit regulations.”
