January 2016 – An electrician was killed when he was struck by a connector pin being used in the assembly of a crane at a mixed-use development construction site. As the crew on top of a 180-ft. tower was trying to put the 40-lb. pin in place, it bounced out and struck the man on the ground. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office reported that a supervisor had instructed the electrical crew not to work under the tower during crane assembly.
