June 6, 2005 — Elliott Equipment Co., Omaha, Neb., recently introduced a new 32-ton capacity boom truck to the market. Designated as the 32117, the unit features a 117-foot-long, four-section boom.

Compared to the 32-ton 32105 boom truck, which was introduced in January, Elliott's President Jim Glazer said this unit offers a longer boom, giving it a tip height of 127 feet. This particular unit has a large swing cab for maximum legroom and operator comfort. According to Glazer, it's the most spacious in the industry.

One unique feature of the 32117 is the “thumb throttle” engine speed control (patent pending), which is used to eliminate the foot throttle and allow the operator to keep both feet securely on the operator platform and control the speed of the load.

The 32117 also features extensive use of glass in the cab, Elliott's ultra-smooth electric-over-hydraulic controls, high mounting of boom pivot pin for additional “power out of the hole” for better lifting, load moment indicator system, a variety of jib lengths, platforms, and accessories, and a 12-month parts and labor warranty/five-year limited structural warranty.
