Ease of Service is Focus of Terex's Telehandler Updates

July 21, 2004 - Serviceability was top of the list for a variety of improvements recently made to telehandlers built by Terex Corp. in Baraga, Mich. No tools are required to access any and all service points. Cut-away openings provide direct access in some cases, while easy-open panels allow entry to others. Ongoing improvements to the TH product line, which includes six models, have benefited from the Lean Manufacturing philosophy Genie Industries has relied on for many years. Genie Industries now oversees the product management of the telehandler line.
Although not considered a major redesign, the updates have certainly streamlined the TH product line. A new base frame has been designed for the TH644, TH842, and TH844, and the TH1044 and TH1046 share the same frame. Plus, a new cab is interchangeable from model to model.
According to the company, the rounded profile of the cab improves operator visibility while features inside the cab help to make the operator more comfortable and productive. Among the comfort features are an adjustable seat, arm rest, cup holder, temperature control, as well as an optional retractable seatbelt. Sticking to the focus of improved serviceability, the cab's glass is held in place with simple fasteners for rapid replacement installation.
Additionally, the boom angle drive cut-out has been increased to 60° from 40° on all except the largest model. Boom angle cut-out remains at 55° on the TH1056. This modification now makes it easier to land loads at greater heights.
