Dropped Load - New York City
May 2015 – Ten people, including two construction workers, suffered minor injuries when an HVAC system being lifted by a crane reportedly broke free and fell approximately 28 stories to the pavement below. Besides the two workers, pedestrians and occupants of passing cars were hurt. The load struck the high-rise building, shearing its façade while falling to the ground. Surrounding streets were closed, and the City’s Department of Buildings is investigating the accident. – 6abc.com
