Crane Topples Palatine, Ill.

September 2015 - A crane slowly sunk and toppled over, striking the local village hall undergoing renovations. No one was injured and the village manager reported that indications are the building suffered no structural damage. The manager said the crane’s outriggers were placed on backfill composed of crushed-up building materials from the old village hall, used to save money. The backfill settled over time. Another crane was to be brought in to right the fallen machine. - www.dailyherald.com
