Crane Hot Line

Crane Accident: Vancouver, BC

July 2013—A construction site was evacuated and about 1,800 utility customers lost power when a tower crane’s load line struck a high-voltage electrical line. One construction worker was taken to the hospital for observation, reportedly dazed but otherwise appearing all right. The crane operator was trapped in crane cab about 200 ft. above ground for about three hours until electricity to the affected lines could be shut off. The tower crane was stripping concrete forms when the accident happened. WorkSafe is investigating. – www.theprovince.com
