Crane Accident: Schertz, Texas

No one was seriously injured when a freight train smashed into a semi-rig carrying a crawler crane. The semi-rig’s trailer, which carried the crane, got caught on the rails at a railroad intersection. Repeated attempts to propel the flatbed trailer up and over the rails failed, and as the coal train approached, the truck driver jumped out of his cab to safety. The train’s conductor was taken to a local hospital. The semi was demolished and the crane’s chassis was heavily damaged.
