Crane Accident: Salt Lake City, Utah

October 2013—A boom truck tipped to one side while placing an air conditioner onto the roof of a commercial building in Salt Lake City, Utah. The crane was swung over the right side of the truck and extended over the building’s roof, but the boom truck’s outriggers on that side were not extended. When the truck tipped to its right, the boom landed on the building’s roof. No one was injured and a fire department spokesman said there appeared to be minimal damage to the building. The commercial building and a nearby apartment building were both evacuated until the boom truck was up-righted by another crane and 20 gallons of spilled diesel fuel were cleaned up. – www.deseretnews.com
