Crane Accident: Port Manatee, Fla.

May 2012—A longshoreman was killed at Port Manatee, Fla., when he was pinned underneath a 5,500-pound crane basket. The dock worker was part of a crew unloading bananas from a ship He was walking across a loading area when the crane basket fell on him. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Local police are investigating and have notified OSHA. The last fatal accident at the port was reportedly a year ago. – www.upi.com
