Crane Hot Line

Crane Accident: Ottawa, Ont.

March 2012 - A construction worker died in a hospital four days after being electrocuted while installing utility poles. Investigators said it appeared that the now-deceased worker was electrocuted when the boom of a machine being used to dig holes for utility poles touched overhead wires. Two co-workers pulled the victim away from the machine and performed CPR until paramedics arrived and restarted his heart. The co-workers suffered lesser electrical shocks during the rescue. They were taken to the hospital in stable condition. The Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating. - www.ottawacitizen.com
