Crane Accident: New York, N.Y.
March 2012 – The boom top of a crane being towed on a barge ripped a 20-foot gash in canvas-and-sheet-metal scaffolding suspended beneath a bridge. Officials said the bridge itself appeared undamaged, but that a thorough inspection would be conducted. No one was reported injured by the collision. The scaffolding, which has been in place for about two years, is being used by crews painting the underside of the bridge. The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the accident. - www.nydailynews.com
